Kakadu Highlights 2027
Go beyond the places you can reach by vehicle.
Experience parts of Kakadu that few others will ever see.
Our Kakadu Highlights trips are two-week bushwalking adventures, divided into two or three walks. Each walk can be done independently, so you can join the whole trip or just one section.
In between sections, those doing the full trip spend a night in a campground or accommodation and enjoy a wetlands cruise and/or Aboriginal cultural experience. They can also replenish their supplies, so there is no need to carry more food and gear than is needed for each walk.
There is no single “best” time to see Kakadu. Each departure is different, timed to show a different side of the park as the seasons change. While there is some overlap, each explores a different part of Kakadu at a different time of year.
Along the way you can discover cascading waterfalls, swim in clear natural pools, visit ancient Aboriginal rock art sites and camp in places where the only people you may see for days are the members of your own walking group. At the end of each walking day, there is time to relax while your guide prepares a delicious three-course dinner.
Are these trips for you?
These trips are for people who want to experience Kakadu on foot, rather than simply see it from the road. You don't need to be exceptionally fit, but you do need to be comfortable carrying your food and gear and walking in remote country for up to a week at a time.
We provide advice to help you prepare, but you need to organise and bring your own equipment, breakfasts and lunches. If you enjoy being self-reliant, spending extended periods in the wilderness and exploring places that few people ever see, these treks could be exactly what you're looking for.
