Kakadu & Top End

Kakadu Circle No. 1

Relaxing by a typical Kakadu Pool

Pictures say more than words . Look at the pictures below for an idea of what you'll be doing and what you'll see if you join us.

Dry season cascades The alternative is an easy swim Waterslide
Walking along Koolpin Creek

Our walk begins in southern Kakadu and takes us through spectacular Koolpin Gorge with its many waterfalls and Aboriginal art sites. From Koolpin we cross to Twin Falls Creek and work out way down to Twin Falls. After a day exploring the area near the falls, we follow a vehicle track , normally closed to vehicles until mid June or July, to Jim Jim Falls where we collect our food drop.

Near the headwaters of Waterfall Creek

From Jim Jim, we return to Twin Falls Creek, cross it and then walk to Surprise Falls, a beautiful spot inaccessible except on a long walk. From here, we continue to Graveside, Barramundi and Waterfalls Creek, ending at Gunlom Falls, site of the waterfall scene in the original Crocodile Dundee movie. As always, there is plenty of time for swimming along the way.

Enjoying a swim

A bus picks us up at Gunom and takes us to the Cooinda resort where we spend our final night before doing a wetlands cruise on Yellow Waters the following morning. Unlike the areas where we walk, Yellow Waters is home to large crocodiles. The cruise is the best and safest way to give you a chance to see them.

Terrain and difficulty. This is one of the longest but most leisurely trips we offer in Kakadu. The schedule allows most groups to get into camp early or have long breaks during the day.

However, once you start, you are in to the finish. There is no vehicular access anywhere along the route.

Some sections of the walk are fairly flat and relatively easy. Others involve considerable rock hopping and are moderately difficult. There are a few steep climbs but these are short and over relatively quickly for most groups.

To take part you need good fitness and a sense of adventure. We have a food drop in sealed metal drums at the halfway point so you do not need to carry food for the full three weeks.

Relaxing by the pool Walking through a Kakadu Gorge

Your rewards are waterfalls, wildflowers and an incredible Kakadu wilderness experience no other operator can offer you.

Note.Because of the need to set our our food drop before the wet season, this trip will not run unless we have at least four bookings by mid November.
