These are a selection of rather older galleries that have not yet been updated, but why miss out on them completely just because they are not quite as shiny as the new ones?

Walking in the Baroalba basin is relatively easy. We take our time at the art sites, time enough to do some sketching if you so desire.

If you got to this page from Ursula Mengel's story, you'll know about the rainstorm. The photos below show the campsite the afternoon before the storm and the morning after. If you got to this page from somewhere else, click the link below the photos if you would like to see Ursula's tale.

Ursula's story
The photos above show a typical campsite, a rocky outcrop next to the creek and a detail from one of the art sites.
If you want to see flowing water like this in the Baroalba area, you have to come during the wet season.
Scenes like the above are more likely during the Wet than the Dry.
The walking isn't always easy, but the views are worth the effort. It's not all hard work. We always have time to stop and enjoy the flowers.

More great views, one from the top of the waterfall shown in the line above and one from near the top of Hill 420. Don't forget, click on the photos to see a larger version.

The Baroalba - Hill 420 area contains one of the greatest concentrations of Aboriginal rock art in Kakadu. Below are two examples of some of the more unusual paintings we visited.
